Security Note: 100% Offline & Private

This WiFi QR code generator runs entirely in your browser. Your network name and password never leave your device. You can disconnect from the internet and this tool will still work perfectly!

How to create a secure WiFi QR Code Card?

  1. Enter your WiFi network name (SSID) in the form.
  2. Enter your WiFi password or click 'Generate Safe Password' for a secure 16-character password.
  3. Select your encryption type (WPA/WPA2 is recommended).
  4. Choose a card style: Minimal for clean prints, Cafe for warm hospitality, or Cyber for tech-savvy guests.
  5. Preview your card in real-time on the right.
  6. Download as PNG or click Print to get a physical card.

Why use an Offline Generator? (Privacy First)

Privacy is paramount when dealing with WiFi credentials. Unlike cloud-based QR generators that upload your password to remote servers for processing, our tool performs all operations entirely within your browser using client-side JavaScript. This architectural choice means your WiFi password, network name, and all generated QR codes exist only in your device's memory — they are never transmitted, stored, or logged anywhere on the internet. This is especially critical for business networks, home networks with IoT devices, and any environment where network security is a concern.

  • No server uploads - your password stays on your device
  • Works offline - disconnect your internet and test it yourself
  • No tracking or analytics on your WiFi credentials
  • No account required - completely anonymous usage
  • Open for inspection - all processing happens in visible JavaScript

Best Practices for Airbnb & Guest WiFi

Follow these best practices to maximize the security and usability of your WiFi QR code cards, whether for home use, office deployment, or hospitality settings:

  • Create a separate guest network to isolate visitors from your main devices.
  • Use the 'Generate Safe Password' button to create a 16-character password without confusing characters (0/O, 1/l).
  • Print multiple cards and place them in visible locations: bedside table, kitchen, living room.
  • For Airbnb: include the WiFi card in your welcome packet or frame it on the wall.
  • Change your guest WiFi password periodically and reprint cards.
  • Consider using WPA3 if your router supports it for enhanced security.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my WiFi password safe with this tool?

Absolutely. This tool runs 100% in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your WiFi password, network name (SSID), and all other input data never leave your device — nothing is sent to any server, stored in any database, or transmitted over the internet. You can verify this by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads; the tool will continue to work perfectly. This makes it fundamentally different from many online WiFi QR generators that process your password on their servers, potentially logging or exposing it.

What does the QR code contain?

The QR code contains a special WiFi configuration string in the standard WIFI: URI format, which is recognized by both iOS and Android devices. The format is: WIFI:T:<encryption>;S:<network-name>;P:<password>;H:<hidden>;; For example, a WPA2 network named "MyHome" with password "abc123" would generate: WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyHome;P:abc123;; When a phone's camera scans this code, the operating system automatically recognizes it as a WiFi configuration and prompts the user to join the network — no manual password typing required.

Why generate a password without 0, O, 1, l, I?

These characters (0/O, 1/l/I) look nearly identical in many fonts and cause frustrating confusion when guests try to type the password manually as a fallback. Our ambiguous-character-free password generator creates passwords that are still cryptographically strong (using the remaining 56 alphanumeric characters plus symbols) but are much easier to read aloud, write on a whiteboard, or communicate over the phone. This is especially important for hospitality settings like hotels, cafes, and Airbnb rentals.

Which encryption type should I choose?

Choose WPA2 or WPA3 for most modern networks — these provide strong AES encryption and are supported by virtually all devices manufactured after 2006. WPA3 is the newest standard with enhanced security features like SAE (Simultaneous Authentication of Equals) but requires newer devices. Only select WEP if you have legacy devices that don't support WPA (extremely rare today). Never use "None" for a network that carries any sensitive traffic, as it means all data is transmitted unencrypted.

Can I use this for my Airbnb or vacation rental?

Yes! This tool is perfect for Airbnb hosts, vacation rental managers, hotels, and bed-and-breakfasts. Print the WiFi card and place it in your welcome packet, frame it on the wall, or leave it on the bedside table. Guests can scan the QR code with their phone camera to connect instantly — no more texting passwords, writing them on sticky notes, or dealing with typos. Many hosts report that providing a WiFi QR card significantly reduces guest questions and improves review scores.

What if my network is hidden?

Check the 'Hidden Network' checkbox. The generated QR code will include this flag, and when scanned, the phone will know to look for a hidden SSID.

How do I print just the card?

Click the 'Print Card' button. The page is designed with special print styles that hide everything except the WiFi card, giving you a clean printout.

Does this work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Both iOS (11+) and Android phones can scan WiFi QR codes. On iPhone, use the built-in Camera app. On Android, use the Camera app or Google Lens.

What is a WiFi QR code and how does it work?

A WiFi QR code is a two-dimensional barcode that encodes your wireless network credentials (network name, password, and encryption type) in a standardized format. When scanned by a smartphone camera or QR reader app, the device automatically recognizes the WiFi configuration and offers to connect to the network. This technology is supported natively on iOS 11+ and Android 10+, meaning no additional app is needed — just point the default camera at the QR code. The standard behind it is the WIFI: URI scheme, which was adopted by the ZXing barcode library and subsequently supported by all major mobile operating systems.

Can I customize the appearance of the WiFi card?

Yes! Our tool offers multiple professionally designed card templates including modern gradient styles, minimal clean designs, and classic layouts. You can customize the network name display, choose whether to show or hide the password text on the card, and select from different visual themes. The generated card is optimized for standard paper sizes and includes proper margins for printing. For businesses, you can use the card design that best matches your brand aesthetic.

What is the maximum password length for WiFi QR codes?

WiFi QR codes support passwords up to 63 characters for WPA/WPA2/WPA3 networks (the maximum defined by the IEEE 802.11i standard). WEP networks support either 5 or 13 ASCII characters (or 10/26 hexadecimal characters). For optimal security, we recommend passwords of 12-20 characters combining uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Our built-in password generator creates strong, readable passwords that balance security with usability.
